God's Best

It's because of this Crazy Man that I believe I can be healed...and I believe this Crazy Man can heal me.

But faith doesn't stop there.

Real faith is always more concerned with God than it is with self, and one of the things that I love most is seeing God be God in this world. Seeing Him do His thing. Seeing amazing grace pour out, hope flourish, the lost be found.

I believe in God's best for me, but I also believe in God's best for you.

Here's one of the things that I've figured out the longer I've been a Christian and the more that I've read the Story:

I am in every story, but I am not always the main character.

Sometimes, sure, I am the sinful woman, quietly walking into forbidden places and pouring out my most valuable offering at the feet of Jesus.

Sometimes, though, I'm the friend, lowering my friend right in front of His feet and smiling because I know what's about to happen for someone I love.

Sometimes, I'm the despised tax collector who suddenly has a whole party at my house, just because Jesus chose me.

Sometimes, and I hate to admit it but it's true, I'm the Pharisee. I'm the scoffer. I'm the one who can't believe what Jesus is doing for someone I don't particularly like, don't particularly think is worthy. I hate to say it because as much as I believe in the goodness of God, there's still this human side of me that seems to have some measure of judgment built in...a measure that I have to choose against every single day.

There aren't really many folks in this world that I actually hate. And, even the ones that I do, I can't think of a single one whose life I wouldn't love to see transformed by Jesus. That's true even of the folks who have wounded me most deeply.

I long to see everyone restored...even if I'm not always thrilled about seeing them redeemed...because I know what Jesus can do.

For someone like me.

For my friends.

For the outcast.

For the sinner.

I've even seen the way that demons respond to Him.

Sometimes, I'm the one who has someone that's dead to me, but I'm still standing around hoping you walk out of that grave.

I can't help myself.

I've lived it. I've seen it. I can't wait to see it again. I want to see Him do it again and again and again because that's what makes Him so incredible, so worthy to be called "God."

He truly is Lord. Good and loving and gracious and amazing.

I believe that for me.

And...I believe that for you.
